Kev’s Three Peaks Challenge

Kev kicks off the 20/20 on Three Peaks

Fund supporter Kev Morris has completed the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge, raising £215 for the Eve Brook Scholarship Fund, the first sponsored event to mark 20 years of the Eve Brook Scholarship Fund in 2018.

The challenge is one of the UK’s best-known mountain events and involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, together with the driving in between, within twenty-four hours.  It involves a total ascent of 2, 957 metres and a distance of 26 miles. Supported by driver Ken, Kev, Lou and Phil completed the task in 22 hrs and five minutes, despite a road closure in the Welsh mountains and a detour into central Glasgow. They began in low cloud above Ben Nevis and finished in glorious sunshine on Snowden.

Kev’s achievement is the first of  named EBSF as the beneficiary of £215’s worth of sponsorship. His achievement is the first of (at least) 20 sponsorship events being undertaken this year and next, the 20th anniversary of the Fund’s foundation. Fourteen people so far have committed themselves to 20/20 events, ranging from marathon cycle to parachute jumps.

Kev and friends Lou and Phil, supported by driver Ken, were confident they could do it and hit lucky with the weather, low cloud covered the tops of Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike but not a drop of rain fell.  A real challenge for all, topped by finishing in glorious sunshine on Snowdon.  What next…
