Alastair Gibbons retires

EBSF Trustee and former Director of Operations at Birmingham Children’s Trust, Alastair Gibbons, has moved to Bournemouth and retired from the EBSF Trust.

            Qualifying as a social worker in Birmingham in 1982, Alastair was involved in adult and children’s social care in Haringey, Milton Keynes and Essex before becoming Executive Director of Children’s Services at Birmingham in 2015. He was the city and then the Birmingham Children’s Trust representative on the EBSF Trust until his retirement in 2018, whereupon he was elected as a Trustee in his own right.

            EBSF chair David Edgar commented: “We are all very sad to say farewell to Alastair Gibbons, who had been a vital member of the EBSF Trust, both as the service’s representative and then as an elected member, since 2015. Alastair’s knowledge about children’s services and his wisdom and care have proved invaluable over the 10 years he’s been involved with our work.

            “In particular, Alastair liaised with the Trusts and Foundations on which EBSF relies: his diligence and diplomacy will be sorely missed. We wish him all the best in his retirement on the south coast”.
